News

Following the launch of CONNEXOR® Reporting on 23 November 2009, all CONNEXOR services have gone live in first-release versions. As of recently, use-case factsheets describing and illustrating the functionality of CONNEXOR and its services have been available. In addition, SIX Swiss Exchange is launching a series of training sessions in which users of CONNEXOR® Distribution can learn how, with CONNEXOR® Distribution Editor, they can make proper and efficient use of the service. Last but not least, CONNEXOR-related activities in 2009 also included taking part in public events with large audiences.

The SIX Group companies involved in operating the high-performance CONNEXOR platform and their project teams can look back on a successful year:

  • Launch of the advertising campaign at the CONNEXOR Issuer Conference 2009 on 31 August 2009 (see Exchange Newsletter no. 04/09)
  • Development of the graphical user interface (GUI) for using the CONNEXOR® Distribution service.
  • Live release of all services. Work on subsequent releases has already begun, and progress continues.

Here is an update on the current status of the project.

CONNEXOR® Numbering (first release now live)

CONNEXOR® Numbering, which enables the financial instrument subscription process to be centralized, significantly simplified and accelerated, went live on 26 October 2009. CONNEXOR® Numbering is the new reservation tool for Swiss security numbers and international securities identification numbers (ISINs), provided the ISIN in question is within the sphere of competence of SIX Telekurs.

CONNEXOR® Distribution (first release now live)

CONNEXOR® Distribution, a fully automated interface, has been available since 10 June 2009, when Version 1.01 was released. In addition to the automated transmission of reference data, it now also offers users the option of using CONNEXOR® Distribution Editor (a graphical user interface) to manually enter and maintain reference data for structured products either traded on Scoach or placed privately.

For the subsequent listing process, the tried-and-tested functionality of CONNEXOR® Listing is available for monitoring the status of the listing application. A new feature is that the status of data sets uploaded to Bloomberg can also be monitored. You can find further information on the various functions offered by our automated data set converter in the User Manual.

CONNEXOR® Distribution Editor

Since 1 December 2009, a graphical user interface (GUI) for manually processing data, the CONNEXOR® Distribution Editor, has been available to users of the CONNEXOR® Distribution service.

SIX Swiss Exchange offers two-hour training sessions in which you can learn in detail how to use the service and the web-based user interface.

You can find further information and training dates at: http://www.connexor.ch/registration/gui_en.html

The main functions of the CONNEXOR® Distribution Editor are explained in the CONNEXOR® Distribution Editor Quick Guide. Please note that training is recommended, although not compulsory, in order to gain the best possible understanding of the CONNEXOR® Distribution Editor, although it is not compulsory.

CONNEXOR® Terms (first release now live)

Available since November 2008, the CONNEXOR® Terms service displays term sheet data for structured products in digitalized form and allows for automated and efficient processing of reference data captured at source. It also allows the data to be transmitted without media breaks. All of this eliminates the need for recipients to spend time on manually entering and reconciling the data. Even when issuing volumes are high, CONNEXOR® Terms ensures that reference data for financial instruments is available immediately so that it can be passed on quickly and without loss of quality for further processing, for instance in middle and back-office systems.

CONNEXOR® Alerting provides automated announcement, notification and processing of corporate actions and financial instrument events. In addition, it helps issuers to comprehensively monitor and efficiently manage their financial instruments right across the product lifecycle. The second release of the CONNEXOR® Alerting service goes live at the end of Q1 2010. CONNEXOR® Alerting covers barrier alerts and redemption notifications for around 80% of all structured products traded on Scoach. As a new feature, the service also informs you of all structured products affected by a corporate action. The service is available free of charge to the issuers of listed structured products.

CONNEXOR® Reporting (first release now live)

The latest service, CONNEXOR® Reporting, helps issuers (listed and unlisted companies) to comply with their reporting obligations under legislation and stock exchange regulations. This service acts as a central platform for entering information on corporate disclosures and financial instrument events. Issuers will in future be obliged to use this new platform when reporting to SIX Exchange Regulation. The issuer reporting platform is intended to help reduce the time and effort spent by issuers of primary-listed equity securities on fulfilling their obligations to maintain the listing, while also improving the quality of all reporting data.

CONNEXOR® Events (first release now live)

This service is the central point of reference for information on corporate actions and financial instrument events that the issuers have previously entered in CONNEXOR® Reporting. The event data delivered by CONNEXOR® Events is always completely up to date, is transmitted without media breaks, feeds directly into users' interfaces and is therefore immediately available for use in downstream processes.

CONNEXOR® Business Transactions - Factsheets

While the CONNEXOR brochure explains the system, its services and the benefits for the different user groups, the business transaction factsheets focus on the way in which CONNEXOR functions in practice. Using five realistic business transaction scenarios, they illustrate and describe the various processes and reference data flows between CONNEXOR and the other parties involved:

  • Listing a new structured product
  • Splitting the underlying of a structured product
  • Corporate action - Indicative dividend payment
  • Corporate action - capital market transaction
  • Barrier event for structured products

Additions are continually being made to the factsheets.

All business transaction factsheets are available as PDF downloads from: http://www.connexor.ch/connexor/business_transactions_en.html

CONNEXOR at the Structured Products Fair 2009

At the end of October, SIX Group presented the new CONNEXOR reference data infrastructure to the general public at the Structured Products Fair. Those running the presentation took the opportunity to exchange ideas with other exhibitors and to show visitors to the fair the benefits of the new high-performance infrastructure.

CONNEXOR Corporation Conference 2009

At the CONNEXOR® Corporation Conference 2009 on 26 November, the new CONNEXOR® Reporting service was presented to the people responsible for event reporting at SIX Swiss Exchange-listed companies and to those in charge at the principal paying agents. The conference focused on the fulfilment of reporting obligations using CONNEXOR® Reporting and on topical issues such as the DRPC directive (Directive Reporting Platform Circular No. 1) and the corporate action processes between principal paying agents and companies. The solutions offered by CONNEXOR in connection with the corporate action harmonization initiative in Europe and its impact on Switzerland were also presented. More than 80 visitors, thought-provoking topics and interesting discussions with the conference participants made the event a resounding success.
